HEREFORD WHITECROSS SQUASH BEATS TOP SIDE EDGBASTON PRIORY

Hereford Whitecross Club recorded a major victory in beating visiting top side Edgbaston Priory at the Sollers Close based Squash Club.
Fielding a very strong side, Hereford matched Edgbaston in a thrilling match supported by a full home crowd watching the best quality squash played in the county for many years.
Andrew Watts, the resident club coach, three times club champion and ranked 25 in Wales playing Chris Truswell, Staffordshire's number 2, lost 3-0 followed by a 3-0 Hereford win for 17 year old Lewis Hurst, Wales u19 No.2 and senior No.15 playing Vikky Lankester, World Ladies No.34.
Jethro Binns, Welsh Junior Champion and ranked No.9 at senior level, went down 3-0 to South African No.2 Steve Coppinger but Matt Crowley, Wales No7 and national squad player pulled the match back to level with a fine 3-1 win over Shropshire Champion and Birmingham University No.2 Jamie Haycocks; setting the match up for an exciting first string decider.
Full time squash professional Sam Miller playing in the top 30 in England and teetering on the edge of the top 100 in the world, went to 2-2 before finally overcoming Birmingham University No.1 and Gloucestershire No.3 John Harford.
The Hereford side, playing in the National Club Championship Knockout now awaits the draw to determine whether their next round match against Nottingham will be played at home or away.
